West Springfield High School

West Springfield High School is a three-year new construction and renovation project under the auspices of Fairfax County Public Schools. Work began in March 2017.

This project focuses on a large, new three-story building and a music facility addition, requiring installation of a VRF system, ERUs, and RTUs. This phase also comprises renovation of existing space, including the auxiliary gym, kitchen, cafeteria, and boy’s locker room. In just 45 days CKS Building Services, Inc., was required to install and commission the work, ready for turnover on the first day of school. The majority of this effort actually was completed in just three weeks, enabling mechanical contractors to check equipment and ensure operation, effectively allowing the entire project to stay ahead of schedule. During this period, careful coordination with many other contractors was required to ensure synchronization. Staying in front of the job is a standard for CKS.

Key to Success: A temporary network was made operational to program all controllers, which was the key to the successful commissioning and checking all equipment.
